Michigan Injury Attorneys Report Tragic Car-Pedestrian Accident on Seven Mile Road
Our Michigan injury attorneys are reporting a fatal Northville pedestrian accident occurred Thursday, February 2nd, in the p.m. hours at the intersection of Seven mile Road and Gerald Avenue. According to police, a 60-year-old woman was crossing the street after work when she was hit by a 24-year-old Redford Township woman. The 60-year-old woman was sent to Botsford Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the other vehicle does not suffer injures and tested negative for the presence of alcohol. This is the third fatal pedestrian accident that took place on Seven Mile Road in Northville Township in the past year.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Crash Report:
- Nearly two pedestrians died in vehicle crashes per 100,000 population
- A pedestrian crash death occurred every 70 million miles walked
- Nearly 13 pedestrians die in car accidents each day, or one pedestrian every 107 minutes.
- Pedestrian accident deaths constituted 11 percent of total crash fatalities in 2006, down from 13 percent in 1997.
- People over 64-years-old have a higher probability than other age individuals to be killed in a car-pedestrian accident.
