A Wayland Township car accident has resulted in the death of a Wayland Union freshman and injuries to other students.  The accident occurred as an Allegan County Sheriff’s Deputy was responding to a call about a man with a gun.  The trooper was traveling on 10^th Street near 125^th Street when a car occupied by four teenagers lost control, crossed the centerline, and struck the police car. 

The impact was worst for the back seat passengers.  Evan Dame, 14, died after being on life support for several hours.  Austin Roblyer, 14, was also in the back seat and sustained serious injuries.  Front seat passenger Ryan Keeney, 17, was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.  The driver, Brett Dame, 16, was unhurt.  The accident is still being investigated.

This is a real tragedy, especially because the victims are so young.  I want to extend my sympathies to all the families involved.
