Waterford Pedestrian Car Accident Lawyers

A Waterford car accident has resulted in the death of a pedestrian.  An 80-year old man was killed on December 26, 2008 when he was hit by a snow plow while trying to cross Telegraph Road south of Dixie Highway.

This is an extremely tragic accident, especially since it happened so close to the holidays.  I want to express my sympathies to this man’s family.

This man most likely did not want to be a burden to his family and he probably would not have wanted his death to cause them financial hardship.   By filing a claim, for Michigan No Fault benefits, the family can collect a payment that will cover a portion of the funeral costs.  A No Fault survivor loss claim will also provide payments for loss of household services if the man still performed chores around his house.  No Fault insurance will also pay for any medical expenses he incurred in an effort to save his life.

In addition to the No Fault claim, this man’s estate may be able to file a lawsuit for wrongful death.  This will allow the estate to collect additional damages beyond what would be allowed under the No Fault Act.  The representative of the estate should contact a Michigan car accident lawyer to speak about the accident and their lawsuit.

Adrian Car Accident

An Adrian car accident has left a teenager dead.  Justin Clark Smith, 19, of Adrian was traveling on M-52 near Birch Run when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility poll.  The accident occurred on November 17, 2008 when over a foot of lake effect snow had fallen in the area.

This is very tragic, especially because the victim is so young.  I want to extend my sympathies to Justin Smith’s family and friends.

Even though no other cars were involved, the Smith family will still be able to collect Michigan No Fault benefits.  In fact, a No Fault survivor loss clam will be able to help them pay for the funeral and provide them with payments for loss of financial support and loss of household replacement services.  An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer could help his family by reviewing their claim application and making sure they have submitted all the necessary documentation to support it.

Waterford Car Accident Lawyers | Waterford Traffic Signal

I recently read that Michigan Department of Transportation officials are considering a Waterford traffic signal or other safety measure at the intersection of Hospital Road and M-59, also known as Highland Road.

MDOT is conducting a traffic study of the intersection.  Although a previous traffic study indicated there was no need for a traffic signal, officials cited increased traffic and a number of recent accidents as reasons that may warrant a signal.  A dozen accidents have occurred at this intersection during 2008, including Robert Schaupp’s fatal accident in October, a fatal motorcycle accident also in October, and Agnes Dregely’s fatal car accident in March.

Livingston County Car Accident Lawyers

A Livingston County car accident on I-96 near Fowlerville Road has resulted in multiple injuries.  The accident occurred on November 9, 2008 as a car driven by a 66-year old driver from Grand Rapids struck a car driven by a 17-year old from Waterford.  After this contact, the Grand Rapids driver apparently lost control of the vehicle, went into the median, and rolled over.  The occupants of this vehicle were taken to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing for treatment on undisclosed injuries.

This sounds like it was a very serious accident.  I am very sorry it happened and I hope everyone is recovering from their injuries.

My law firm represents people injured in car accidents.  Many of the people I represent know they should submit a claim like this to their Michigan No Fault insurance company but often, they do not know all the different benefits they qualify for.  No Fault insurance pays a variety of benefits including medical expenses, lost wages, and attendant care, but there are other benefits as well, such as household replacement services, medical transportation benefits, and others.  The car accident lawyers at my law firm would be happy to review your No Fault claim before you submit it to your insurance company to ensure you are claiming every benefit you are entitled to.

In addition to No Fault benefits, people who have been killed or seriously injured in car accidents may be able to sue a negligent driver.  In an accident like this, many people do not know whether the passengers can sue the driver.  In Michigan, passengers can sue their own drivers for negligence, even if they are friends or family members.  People are sometimes hesitant to sue someone they know but I always explain to them that the lawsuit is really against the drivers’ insurance company.

As part of any Michigan motorcycle accident case or any Michigan auto insurance claim, it is necessary to obtain the police traffic accident report.  Our firm routinely obtains these for our clients who have been injured in an auto accident.

These are available to you by simply contacting the police agency and requesting the report.  There is usually a small fee for the report.  For an accident that occurred in Waterford, you should request the traffic crash report at the following location:
