Calhoun County Car Accident Lawyers

A fatal Calhoun County car accident resulted in the death of a Vicksburg man on November 16, 2008.  Raymond Hagens, 50, died after his pickup truck hit a tree at 7 ½ Mile Road and K Drive South in Newton Township.  Raymond Hagens was driving at a high rate of speed and went through an intersection before he died.  He was driving on a suspended license.

I want to extend my sympathies to this man’s family.  I am very sorry this accident happened.

Many people do not realize this, but even though this accident was the fault of the decedent, his family can still submit a survivor loss claim to their No Fault insurance company.  Survivor loss benefits include a payment for part of the funeral bill, and payments for loss of support and loss of household services.  To submit a survivor loss claim, it will be necessary to submit a copy of the death certificate, funeral bill, and written proof of the loss of financial support and household services.

Vicksburg Car Accident

A Vicksburg car accident has resulted in the death of one woman.  Phyllis Lawrence, 61, was driving north on 12th Street when she ran a stop sign at U Avenue.  She was hit by a car driven by Katherine Sugars.  Phyllis Lawrence died at the scene while Katherine Sugars was treated and released for minor injuries at Burgess Hospital.

This is a very unfortunate accident, and I am sorry that it occurred.  I want to extend my sympathies to the Lawrence family.  I also hope that Katherine Sugars is able to completely recover from her injuries.

In an accident like this one, both drivers are entitled to Michigan No Fault insurance benefits.  No Fault insurance will pay for all medical expenses incurred and will pay for a portion of any wage loss that occurs if Katherine Sugars has to miss work.  Other benefits may also be available depending on the severity of Katherine Sugars’ injuries.  A No Fault survivor loss claim for Phyllis Lawrence will cover a portion of the funeral costs and will provide payments for loss of financial support and household services.

Schoolcraft Car Accident

A Vicksburg woman was killed in a Schoolcraft car accident.  Phyllis Lawrence, 61, of Vicksburg was driving on 12th Street when she failed to stop at a stop sign at U Avenue.  She collided with Katherine Shugars of Marcellus in the intersection.  She was pronounced dead at the scene while Ms. Shugars was treated for minor injuries.

This is a very tragic accident and I was sorry to read about it.  I want to express my sympathy to Phyllis Lawrence’s family as well as my hope that Katherine Shugars recovers fully from her injuries.

Both drivers may submit claims for Michigan No Fault insurance, which will cover all medical expenses and, through a survivor loss claim, a portion of the funeral expenses.  Other benefits may also be available depending on the severity of the injuries and other circumstances.  The best way to determine the exact scope of No Fault insurance benefits available in any accident is to consult with an experienced Michigan car accident lawyer.

Schoolcraft Township Motorcycle Accident

A Schoolcraft Township motorcycle accident has left Matthew Chabitch of Vicksburg in serious condition.  The accident occurred when Bille Andres, also of Vicksburg, turned into the path of Matthew Chabitch’s motorcycle at the intersection of 18th Street and W Avenue in Schoolcraft Township.  Billie Andres and his passenger Gerald Andres were treated for minor injuries.

This is a very unfortunate accident and I hope everyone involved has a speedy and full recovery.  Fortunately, Matthew Chabitch was wearing a helmet, which hopefully prevented his injuries from being even more serious.

My law firm represents drivers, motorcyclists and passengers who are injured in accidents.  Michigan No Fault benefits are available to all three of the people involved here.  Many people believe that No Fault benefits are not available to motorcyclists, but that is not true.  In this accident, because the motorcycle was hit by a car, No Fault benefits are available to Matthew Chabitch.  No Fault benefits will pay for medical expenses and a portion of lost wages as well as other expenses depending on the severity of the injury.  Also depending on the severity of his injuries, Matthew Chabitch may have a claim directly against Billie Andres.

As part of any Michigan motorcycle accident case or any Michigan auto insurance claim, it is necessary to obtain the police traffic accident report.  Our firm routinely obtains these for our clients who have been injured in an auto accident.

These are available to you by simply contacting the police agency and requesting the report.  There is usually a small fee for the report.  For an accident that occurred in Vicksburg, you should request the traffic crash report at the following location:

Vicksburg Police Department
126 North Kalamazoo Ave
Vicksburg, MI 49097
(616) 649-1144
Fax: (269) 649-3997

If your accident was investigated by the Michigan State Police, you need to request the report directly from that agency.  You can download the Michigan State Police form here that you must complete and submit to obtain the Michigan State Police report.  .
