Toyota Recall – Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood’s Advice
Toyota has been the biggest news in the auto industry these past weeks taking Chrysler, Ford, or GM out of the spotlight. Just last week, Toyota announced a recall of 2.3 million vehicles in the United States due to conditions related to the gas pedals. Due to both recalls, “Floor Mat Entrapment” and “Pedal”, production at North American plants have been closed down, so that Toyota can focus on remedying the cars they have recalled.
The United States Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood is advising all owners of Toyota vehicles to stop driving the vehicle and get them into their dealer immediately for repairs. To ensure that Toyota’s upcoming cars are safe, LaHood said,” he will call the Japanese automaker in coming day to make sure they are aware of the government’s concerns about safety issues with Toyota vehicles.” LaHood voiced his concern to a House Appropriations subcommittee on transportation.
