Kalamazoo Hit & Run Accident Fatality

A 27-year-old woman was killed in a Kalamazoo Hit & Run Accident on Saturday, May 23rd on Vanrick Drive. Police reported that the Kalamazoo woman was walking when she was allegedly struck by a minivan leaving the parking lot of Continental Lanes. She was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital with critical injuries that she did not survive. Police continue to investigate and are still searching for a gold or tan colored van.

I  am very sorry to hear about this tragic accident. My condolences to the family of the woman for their loss.

Michigan car accident victims have a number of legal rights.  For this type of accident, the family members may be able to make a claim for Survivor Loss Benefits.  This can include payment of funeral expenses, lost wages, and loss of other services.

Furthermore, the family members may have a claim for wrongful death against the driver of the van for negligence. At the very least, the surviving family should hire the best possible lawyer to look into these possibilities.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case.

If the driver’s identity is not discovered, the woman’s family still has rights under the law. They may be able to file an uninsured motorists claim against their own insurance policy or another insurance policy to receive the Survivor Loss Benefits.

Accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.

Detroit Car Accident Injures Woman

A woman was injured in a Detroit car crash on May 2nd when a teen driving a stolen car ran a red light on Detroit’s Eastside.  Police had to pull the woman out of the passenger window of the car.  She was taken to a local hospital to be treated for possible serious injuries.

I am very sorry hear that this accident happened and I hope that she is able to recover completely from his injuries.

Michigan car accident victims have a number of legal rights.  For this type of accident, the injured driver can submit a claim for Michigan No-Fault insurance benefits.  No-Fault benefits will cover her medical expenses, lost wages, attendant care, replacement services, and other benefits related to injuries suffered in the accident.  The injured driver can claim these benefits even if they did not have an automobile insurance policy.

In addition, the injury victim may be able to file a lawsuit against the person driving the car.  In this lawsuit, she can claim damages and compensation for the injuries suffered in the accident.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case.

If the teen driver of the stolen car does not have insurance, the injured woman still has rights under the law. She may be able to file an uninsured motorists claim against her own insurance policy or another insurance policy to compensate her for her injuries.

An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer can assist the victim with these types of claims.  Accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.

Michigan Car Accidents with Uninsured Drivers

Here in Michigan, all drivers are required by law to have no-fault insurance.  Unfortunately, many people ignore this law and do not buy insurance policies.  When these people injure other drivers in car accidents, a lot of times the other drivers do not know what to do.  Fortunately, the experience car accident attorneys at my law firm can help.

There are two potential claims arising out of the automobile accident.  The first claim you have is for no-fault benefits, which will cover your damages for lost wages, medical expenses and household chores.  Even if the other driver did not have insurance, but you owned your own automobile which had car insurance, or you were living with a relative had car insurance, you are able to make a claim for no-fault benefits through your automobile insurance company or your relative’s automobile insurance company.  Even if you did not have automobile insurance or you were not living with a relative who did not have automobile insurance, you are able to make a claim for no-fault benefits through the Michigan Assigned Claims Facility.  If you have any questions on how to make a claim for no-fault benefits, please call the law firm of Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. immediately.

In addition to making a claim for no-fault benefits, if you had your own automobile insurance which had uninsured motorist coverage or were living with a relative who had automobile insurance which had uninsured motorist coverage, you may be able to make a claim against the insurance company for uninsured motorist coverage, which will cover all of your non-economic damages, including damages for pain and suffering and disfigurement.  Additionally, you may make a claim for any excess economic damages over and above which you are entitled to receive in no-fault benefits.

There are very strict time limitations in pursuing these types of claims. Therefore, if you are involved in an auto accident, we recommend that you contact an attorney immediately.   If you have any questions on how to make a claim for uninsured motorist coverage benefits, please call the law firm of Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. immediately at (800) 606-1717 or visit our firm website at www.BuckfireLaw.com

Michigan Bicycle Accident Cases

I am often contacted by clients who are seriously injured in Michigan bicycle accidents.  We are in the middle of summer right now and I seek bikers on the streets constantly throughout the day. The weekends are just incredible with the number of bikers taking to the streets for great exercise and adventure.  However, like any great recreation, there are potential risks and hazards involved.
