Brain Injury Treatments | Michigan Car Accident Lawyers

I recently read about a new brain injury treatment that focuses on using social clues to treat brain injuries.  Before this study was released, it was already widely known that brain injuries may cause personality changes and changes in behavior, which can create difficultly in dealing with social situations.  The study focused on re-teaching basic social skills to people with brain injuries.

 

For example, handling sarcasm often presents a great difficulty for people with brain injuries because sarcasm involves positive words which are spoken in a negative tone or manner.  People with brain injuries often have difficulty interpreting the mixed messages. 

 

The treatment prescribed in this study involved increasing sophisticated re-education as to how and why people send mixed messages in social settings and how to respond to them.  The patients reported some improvement in responding to new social situations, which is certainly a cause for hope for people with brain injuries.

Grand Rapids Pedestrian Car Accident

A Grand Rapids car accident has left a teenager with severe injuries, including a closed head injury.  An 18-year old man stepped off the curb at the intersection of Grandville Avenue and Beacon Street on November 1, 2008 when a 30-year old driver struck him with his car.  The pedestrian was then transported to the hospital.

 

This is a very unfortunate accident and I am very sad that it occurred.  As an attorney that specializes in personal injuries, I know that this man’s family will have to give him a great deal of support in the coming weeks and months to deal with his closed head injury.
