A Detroit truck accident lawsuit recently settled for $3.9 million.  The wrongful death lawsuit was filed in the Wayne County Circuit Court in Detroit, Michigan by the estate of a man who was killed when gravel truck on I-75 swerved into the lane of the vehicle driven by the decedent.  The investigation after the accident revealed numerous defects on the truck and a very poor maintenance history.  The truck driver was also on medication at the time that caused him to be tired and reduced his reaction time.

Daniel Buckfire recently settled a case for a client injured in an auto accident in Royal Oak, Michigan.  The client was a valet and was parking vehicles at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital at the time of the accident.  A driver negligently stepped on her gas pedal and struck our client, pinning him between cars.  He suffered a significant knee injury that required surgery.  He has been unable to return to work and is still undergoing physical therapy.

The insurance company for the negligent driver paid a settlement of $300,000.00.  Our client received payment of medical and wage loss benefits through his worker’s compensation carrier because he was injured during the course of his employment.  Had he not been working at the time, these benefits would be paid by his auto no-fault insurance company.
