Flint Bus Accident

A Flint bus accident has resulted in the death of a student.  A pickup truck was exiting the parking lot of Powers Catholic High School on Tuesday when it was struck by a Mass Transit Authority bus.  The pickup truck driver, his passenger, and the bus driver were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.  The passenger later died from her injuries.  It is unclear how serious the injuries to the drivers were, but the jaws of life were used to remove the driver and passenger from the pickup truck.  The accident remains under investigation.

This is a very tragic accident.  Anytime someone so young loses their life in a car accident, the entire community is affected.  My thoughts are with this girl’s family.  I also hope both drivers can completely recover.

My law firm represents people who have been injured in car accidents.  If I were asked to advise the people involved in this accident, I would recommend that they make claims for No Fault insurance benefits as soon as possible.  Their No Fault benefits will pay their medical expenses and a portion of the funeral costs, and possibly other benefits as well.  Depending on the severity of the injuries, the driver who was free of fault may have legal claims against the driver who was at fault.  The passenger’s family definitely has a claim for wrongful death against the at-fault driver.  The best way to determine whether a claim exists would be to consult with an experienced car accident lawyer.

Kentwood Bus and Car Accident

A Kentwood accident involving a Rapid bus and two cars has left the two car drivers injured.  The accident occurred when the Rapid bus slowed to turn near the intersection of 60th Street and Eastern Avenue.  A car rear-ended an SUV which in turn rear-ended the bus.  The car driver was hospitalized in critical condition and the driver of the SUV received medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

This is a very unfortunate accident and I hope both drivers are able to experience a full and speedy recovery.

My law firm handles cases similar to this one.  In an accident like this, both drivers are able to claim No-Fault insurance benefits for their injuries regardless of who was at fault for the accident.  The No Fault benefits will cover medical expenses, lost wages, and other benefits depending on the severity of the injuries.  In addition, if one of the drivers is determined to be free of fault, he or she will have a claim against the driver who was at fault.

Pere Marquette Township Rollover Accident

A Pere Marquette Township rollover accident has left the driver and three passengers with injuries.  Herbert Friedrich Kuester and Irene Emma Sheer, both of Germany, Liesolette Kuester and the driver Erwin Kuester, both of Ada, were injured in a rolloever accident on Wednesday.  Herbert and Irene had to be airlifted to Spectrum Health Hospital in Grand Rapids, while Liesolette and Erwin were treated at Memorial Medical Center in Ludington before being released.

Reports are vague about the severity of the injuries involved in this case.  I hope they are not serious and that all four people experience a complete recovery.

I represent injured car accident victims.  In a case like this, one of the first things everyone should do is to determine what type of insurance benefits they may receive.  They will want to do this quickly so that they can gather all the documents they will need to submit to their insurance company.  They should do this quickly because strict time limits often cut off benefits accident victims would otherwise be entitled to receive.

In an accident like this, Liesolette and Erwin are entitled to receive No Fault benefits.  These benefits will include payment for all medical expenses arising out of the accident, including their hospital bills.  They may also be eligible for other benefits depending on the severity of their injuries.  In addition, Liesolette may have a claim against Erwin, since he was the driver, for any injuries not compensated by her No Fault benefits.

Herbert and Irene may also have a claim for their injuries against Erwin since he was the driver.  Even though they may be family or friends, the claim will actually be against Erwin’s insurance company.  As passengers, they are also entitled to the same No Fault benefits Erwin and Liesolette can receive even though they probably do not have Michigan No Fault insurance since they are from Germany.  The reason they are entitled to No Fault benefits is that they can make a claim from Erwin’s No Fault insurance provider.

Holland Car Accident

A Holland car accident has seriously injured one driver.  Ronald DeYoung was driving on South Washington near the tunnel at Tulip City Airport when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a utility poll.  Mr. DeYoung was ejected from the car and seriously injured.  Reports indicated he was in critical condition at Spectrum Health Hospital in Grand Rapids.  The accident is still under investigation.

This sounds like it was a very serious accident and my sympathy is with Ronald DeYoung and his family.  I hope he is able to have a full and fast recovery.

A car accident can seriously disrupt an accident victim’s life.  Fortunately, if accident victims have No Fault insurance, their insurance benefits can help them deal with the consequences of the accident.  No Fault benefits cover all medical expense related to the accident including hospital bills.  They also cover a portion of lost wages, household replacement services, which are payments for household chores that accident victims can no longer do themselves, and attendant care benefits or allowable expenses, which are payments for supervised care required after the victim has been released from the hospital.

Royal Oak Hit and Run Accident

A Royal Oak hit and run accident has left a Detroit woman dead.  The Detroit woman was riding her bicycle in the northbound lane of Woodward Avenue just south of Twelve Mile Road when she was struck and dragged a short distance before the motorist drove off.  The bicyclist was taken to Beaumont Hospital, but unfortunately she was pronounced dead an hour later.  Royal Oak Police are still investigating the accident and are requesting anyone with information about a white car with damage to its front end and possibly its windshield to call 248-246-3515.

This is a real tragedy that should not have happened.  My sympathies are with the family of this woman.

My law firm represents accident victims and their families.  Often, people struggling after an accident do not understand the No Fault system or what benefits they are entitled to under the law.  In an accident like this one, if the woman either had or lived with someone who had No Fault insurance, her family can make a claim for survivor loss benefits, which will pay a portion of the funeral expenses and other expenses.  In addition, if the driver is ever identified, the family can bring a wrongful death action against him or her since she was at fault for the accident.  However, even if the driver is never found, if this woman either had or lived with someone who had uninsured motorist insurance coverage, her family can bring an uninsured motorist claim against her own insurance company.
