Pinckney Motorcycle Accident

A Pinckney motorcyclist died in a motorcycle accident near Brighton on Tuesday.  The accident occurred on eastbound I-69 near Flint Road.  It appears the driver lost control of the motorcycle while in the left hand lane and crashed.  Police are still investigating the accident and requesting anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them at 810-227-1051.

This is a tragedy and I feel so much sympathy for this man’s family.

My law firm represents people injured in motorcycle accidents and their families.  When an accident like this one happens, the family should quickly determine what insurance policies are in effect and submit claims for the accident.  Although it may be difficult to assemble the necessary documents and file the paperwork while grieving for a loved one, it is necessary to do this quickly because insurance companies often attempt to disqualify claims for the reason that they were not submitted on time.  Only by filing the claim quickly can people avoid this.

In a motorcycle accident, No Fault benefits may be available.  These benefits could include payment of any medical expenses and payment for a portion of the funeral expenses.  The family may also have claims against a negligent party if the accident occurred because of someone else’s negligence.  The best way to determine all your possible claims is to speak with a lawyer.

Pinckney School Bus Accident

A Whitmore Lake woman was injured after an accident with a Pinckney Community Schools bus in Hamburg Township on M-36 near Pettysville Road.  She was trapped in her car until firefighters were able to free her.  She was then taken to University of Michigan Hospital for treatment.  No children were on the bus when the accident occurred. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.

This is a terrible accident, but it is very fortunate that it did not occur earlier in the day when children were on the bus.  I hope the injured woman has a quick and complete recovery.

Even though there has been no determination of fault, the injured driver is entitled to No Fault benefits, which include payment of all hospital bills and medical expenses as well as additional benefits depending on the severity of her injuries.  These benefits could include payment for household chores that the injured person can no longer do for herself and for any care or supervision of the injured person that is required as a result of the accident.  Finally, if she has to miss work because of injuries suffered in this car accident, her No Fault insurance will pay benefits for their lost wages.

The injury victim may also have claims for personal injuries suffered in the accident.  The driver who was determined to be free of fault could have a claim against the negligent driver.
