The accident took place on Sunday, April 9th around 2 a.m. According to police, two women were walking down Empire Avenue when they were struck by man driving a van. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other accident victim was transported to Lakeland Hospital. The man responsible for the pedestrian accident attempted a hit and run but was found less than half a mile away. Police state the man was driving under the influence.

Fatal Hit & Run Accident in Monroe County

I heard a tragic story on the radio today about a Fatal Hit & Run Accident in Monroe County yesterday. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Diane Norris was allegedly hit and killed as she walked along North Dixie Highway in Frenchtown Township. The police investigation found enough evidence that the vehicle that hit Ms. Norris was a Pontiac Grand Am. The police are still investigating and ask anyone with information contact them so they can locate the driver responsible for this tragic death.
