Fatal Holland Car Accident

There was a story in the paper about a woman who died in a fatal Holland car accident on November 29 in Ottawa County. According to police, a car, driven by a nursing home activities director, collided with a Lincoln Navigator at the intersection of Riley Street and Country View Lane. The female driver was rushed to the hospital for treatment of her serious injuries, where she died five days later. Police are still investigating this accident.

I am very sorry to hear about this tragic accident and offer the family of the deceased woman my most sincere condolences and best wishes.

Our Michigan car accident lawyers advise accident victims of their legal rights. For this type of auto accident in Michigan, the family members of the deceased woman may be able to make a claim for Survivor Loss Benefits. This can include payment of funeral expenses, lost wages, and loss of other services.

In addition, the injury victims may be able to file a lawsuit against the persons determined to be at fault in auto accident. The insurance company for the driver must still cover any injuries. In this lawsuit, the family of the deceased victim can claim damages and compensation for the injuries suffered in the accident. The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case.

Also, the family members of the deceased woman may have a claim for a Michigan wrongful death lawsuit against the driver that police determine was negligent and caused this accident. At the very least, the surviving family members should hire the best possible lawyer to look into these possibilities.

An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer can assist the victim with this type of claim. Accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.

Holland Township Three Car Accident

I was reading the newspaper today and came across an article about a Holland Township Three Car Accident that seriously injured one person. According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, a Holland Township man was seriously injured when his car was allegedly struck in the rear while stopped on James Street near 136th Street.

The impact spun his car into oncoming traffic where his vehicle was struck again and forced into the shoulder. He sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Police are still investigating this accident.

Ottawa County Roll-Over Car Accident

An Ottawa County roll over car accident has resulted in the death of a teenager.  Jordan Dreyer, 17, of Zeeland Township passed away following a roll over car accident.  The accident occurred on Tyler Street east of 96th Avenue in Blendon Township on December 25, 2008.  The accident occurred because of icy roads.

This is a real tragedy, especially because the victim is so young.  I feel terrible for this boy’s family and want to extend my sympathies to them.

Even though this will not bring back their child, Jordan Dreyer’s parents should file a claim for Michigan No Fault insurance.  A No Fault survivor loss claim will provide them with financial assistance in dealing with the sudden loss of their son.  Survivor loss benefits include payments for a portion of the funeral costs and payments for loss of household services, which the family can collect if Jordan ever did any chores around the house.  If Jordan worked, they may also be able to collect payments for loss of financial support.

In addition, the family should speak with an attorney to determine whether they want to sue the driver for their child’s death.  This lawsuit will likely be defended and paid for by the driver’s insurance company, so the family should strongly consider filing a lawsuit even if the driver was a close friend of Jordan’s.  A lawyer can advise them about the possible advantages and disadvantages of suing so they can make an informed decision.

Ottawa County Car Accident

An Ottawa County car accident has left one man dead.  Jerry Berg was killed in a car accident that occurred at the intersection of 96th Avenue and Arthur Street in Crockery Township on October 23, 2008.  The accident occurred when Jerry Berg apparently lost control of the vehicle due to his speed and road conditions and slid off the side of the road and into a tree.  The tree then fell on the car pinning Jerry Berg inside.  When police arrived, they found the car on fire.

This sounds like a terrible accident.  I am very sorry for the Berg family’s loss.

In an accident like this one, the best thing the family can do is quickly submit a claim for Michigan No Fault insurance benefits.  Although this may seem like an unimportant detail at a time like this, the family will be much better off after their claim is processed.  Michigan No Fault insurance will cover any medical expenses that were incurred, provided a portion of wages lost from Jerry Berg’s death, and, through a survivor loss claim, provide a payment for a portion of the funeral costs in addition to other benefits.  Insurance companies and the Michigan No Fault Act set firm deadlines for submitting claims, so it is imperative to submit your claims quickly to avoid being denied benefits you deserve.
