Royal Oak Multiple Hit & Run Accidents Fatality

There was a tragic story in the news today about Royal Oak Multiple Hit & Run Accidents Fatality. A drunk driver, in a Chevy Silverado, was allegedly involved in two hit and run accidents in matter of 10 minutes, according to Michigan State Police. The first hit and run accident allegedly occurred at a McDonald’s on 11 Mile Road near Van Dyke that left several people seriously injured.

State Police said the drunk driver then allegedly rammed into a Ford Aerostar minivan on the Woodward exit ramp of I-696 causing the minivan to roll, 10 minutes later. One of the passengers was killed when the minivan rolled. The driver and other passengers of the minivan were taken to Beaumont Hospital with serious injuries. The drunk driver fled the scene of the accident but was apprehended later when he returned to the scene. Police are still investigating this accident.

I  am very sorry to hear about these tragic auto accidents and wish all the injured parties the fullest and speediest recovery possible.  My condolences to the family of the deceased passenger for their loss.

Our Michigan car accident lawyers advise accident victims their legal rights. For this type of auto accident in Michigan, the injured drivers and passengers can submit a claim for Michigan No-Fault insurance benefits.  No-Fault benefits will cover their medical expenses, lost wages, attendant care, replacement services, and other benefits related to injuries suffered in the accident.  The injured parties can claim these benefits even if they did not have a Michigan automobile insurance policy.

Furthermore, for this type of accident, the family members of the deceased passenger may be able to make a claim for Survivor Loss Benefits.  This can include payment of funeral expenses, lost wages, and loss of other services.

In addition, the car accident injury victims may also have claims for personal injuries against any driver determined to be at fault in this auto accident.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case. In this lawsuit, the injured victims can claim damages and compensation for the injuries suffered in the accident.  Also, the family members of the deceased passenger  may have a claim for a Michigan wrongful death lawsuit against the driver that police determine was negligent and caused these car accidents. At the very least, the surviving family should hire the best possible lawyer to look into these possibilities.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement in both these types of cases.

Another possible claim for anyone injured by the drunk driver would be a potential Michigan dram shop case against the seller or furnisher of the  alcohol before the accident.

An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer can assist the victims with this type of claim.  Auto accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.

Holly Car Accident

I heard from a friend recently that the famous clock in Holly Michigan was missing. So I decided to search for what happened and found it was taken for repairs after a Holly Car Accident on Monday, June 1st. According to the Holly Police Department, a 1999 Cadillac driven by a Burton woman was allegedly travelling at a high rate of speed when she allegedly rear-ended two people in a Hyundai, near the intersection of Oakland Street and Saginaw Street.

The Cadillac pushed the Hyundai 300 feet before it spun off into the northbound lanes of Saginaw Street. The Cadillac continued on and veered to the right and slammed into the famous clock causing it to collapse onto the Cadillac injuring the driver and the passenger. The drivers of the Cadillac and the Hyundai and the two passengers were taken to Genesys Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Police are still investigating the Holly car accident. The famous clock was sent out for repairs.

I am very sorry to hear about his car accident and wish all the injured parties a speedy and full recovery.

Michigan car accident victims have a number of legal rights.  For this type of auto accident, the injured passengers and Hyundai driver can submit a claim for Michigan No-Fault insurance benefits.  No-Fault benefits will cover their medical expenses, lost wages, attendant care, replacement services, and other benefits related to injuries suffered in the accident.  The injured passengers and Hyundai driver can claim these benefits even if they did not have an automobile insurance policy.

In addition, the injury victims may be able to file a lawsuit against the persons determined to be at fault in the auto accident.  The insurance company for the drivers must still cover any injuries. In this lawsuit, they can claim damages and compensation for the injuries suffered in the accident.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case.

Furthermore, the Village of Holly has a property damage claim against the driver of the Cadillac for damage to the famous clock. The insurance carrier for the city of Holly will not be repsonsible for the cost of repair of the famous clock due to the Cadillac driver’s negligence. The insurance company for the driver of the Cadillac will be responsible for the city’s property damage.

An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer can assist the victim with this type of claim.  Accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.

Oakland County Car Accident Causes Fatality & Injuries

Michigan State Police are investigating an Oakland County Car Accident that occurred on I-696 during rush hour on May 15th. Police said a lone vehicle lost control and crossed over the lanes to strike the median wall coming to rest in the left center lane. The driver and two passengers were transported to Beaumont hospital with serious injuries. The driver was subsequently pronounced deceased at the hospital.

I am very sorry this accident occurred.  I hope that the people injured are able to recover completely from their injuries.

Oakland County Hit and Run Accident

An Oakland County hit and run car accident has resulted in the death of a Novi man.  Brian Latuszek, 40, of Novi was tragically killed in a hit and run car accident on February 8, 2009.  The accident occurred on Pontiac Trail near West Park Drive in Walled Lake.  He was hit by at least two vehicles, both of which left the scene of the accident.  Police are still searching for the hit and run drivers.

I am very sorry for the Latuszek family’s loss.  I have trouble believing that people can have such a disregard for life as to not stop and at least contact the authorities after hitting a man with their car.

Although this will not bring back Brian Latuszek, the family really should submit a claim for Michigan No Fault car insurance.  A No Fault survivor loss claim will provide a great deal of assistance to the family during this difficult time.  Survivor loss benefits include a payment for a portion of the funeral costs and payments for loss of financial support and loss of household services for up to three years after the accident.

In addition, the family may be able to sue one or both of the hit and run drivers if they are ever identified.  Even if they are not identified, it may still be possible to collect additional damages beyond the standard survivor loss benefits described above.  The family should contact a Michigan car accident lawyer to discuss this possibility.  It will help if they can obtain a copy of their insurance policy prior to speaking with an attorney.

Bloomfield Township Car Accident

A Bloomfield Township car accident has caused a man to die.  The accident occurred on January 24, 2009 on Telegraph near Square Lake Road when a 75-year old driver of a Jeep rear-ended a 27-year old Ann Arbor resident who was stopped at a traffic light.  The Jeep then crossed into other lanes on Telegraph before coming to a stop.  The driver of the Jeep was taken to Saint Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, where he was pronounced dead.

I am very sorry this accident occurred.   I want to express my sympathies to this man’s family.  The article did not indicate whether the Ann Arbor resident was hurt, and I hope that he or she was not.

In an accident like this, the man’s family should submit a claim for No Fault insurance benefits.  A No Fault survivor loss claim will provide them with a payment for a portion of the funeral costs and possibly payments for loss of financial support and loss of household services, depending on if the deceased earned income or helped with any chores around the house.  If the Ann Arbor resident was injured, he or she should also submit a claim for No Fault benefits, which will pay for all medical expenses and other benefits.
