Jackson Car Accident Lawyers

A Jackson car accident resulted in serious injuries for a Stockbridge man on November 21, 2008.  The accident occurred on M-106 near Territorial Road when a man driving a car lost control of his vehicle due to icy roads and collided with a pickup truck.  The driver of the car was flown to UM Hospital where he was in critical condition.  The driver of the pickup truck and his passenger were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

This is an unfortunate but all too common accident now that winter weather has returned to Michigan.  I hope this man has a full recovery, and I hope every motorist is more careful now that they have to deal with snow and ice again.

Even though the news article makes it appear that the accident was the car driver’s fault, he can still collect Michigan No Fault insurance benefits.  No Fault insurance is available regardless of fault.  No Fault insurance will pay all reasonable and necessary medical expenses, a portion of this man’s lost wages, household replacement services, and attendant care benefits if these are necessary.  If his injuries will require prolonged treatment, his No Fault insurance will pay for the follow up treatment and for a case manager to coordinate his treatment.

Jackson Bicycle Accident | Jackson Personal Injury Lawyers

A Jackson bicycle accident has critically injured a man.  The accident occurred as Joe Simpson was crossing E. Michigan Avenue near Orange Street on November 9, 2008.  He was left semiconscious after being hit by a minivan.  He remains in critical condition.

I am very sorry this accident occurred.  I hope that Joe Simpson is able to experience a quick and full recovery.

In an accident like this, a bicyclist would be entitled to Michigan No Fault benefits.  These benefits will pay for all the injured person’s medical expenses and a portion of his or her lost wages.  No Fault insurance will also provide transportation to and from medical treatment appointments for injuries caused by the accident.  No Fault benefits also include household replacement services and attendant care if the accident victim’s injuries are severe enough to warn them.  Finally, if Joe Simpsons’s injuries were very serious, he may be able to sue the driver that hit him, but he should have a lawyer evaluate his case before he decides to pursue a lawsuit.

Jackson Truck Accident

A Jackson truck accident on I-94 has resulted in the death of one man and injuries for another.  Geza Andrew Simko, 90, of Allen Park was killed and his son, Gilbert R. Simko, was injured when their van entered a construction zone on I-94 between Dearing and Parma roads.  Their van was in the process of slowing down when a tractor trailer truck hit their vehicle and pushed it forward into a pickup truck.  Jackson police are still investigating the accident.

I feel very bad about this accident.  It is always hard for a family when an accident takes a life, but when two people in a family are affected by it, it seems even worse.  I hope that Gilbert Simko is able to recover completely.

My law firm regularly represents people injured and killed in car accidents, including truck accidents.  The first step anytime there is a car accident is submitting a claim for Michigan No Fault insurance benefits.  Both Geza Simko and Gilbert Simko are eligible for No Fault benefits, which will cover a portion of Geza’s funeral and will cover Gilbert’s medical expenses.  Gilbert can also receive a portion of wages lost if he has to miss work because of the accident.  Furthermore, other benefits may be available to him depending on the severity of his injuries.  I would encourage anyone involved in a car accident to submit a No Fault claim quickly so that the medical bills can get paid without damaging one’s credit.

The second step in an accident is to evaluate legal options and decide whether to pursue a lawsuit.  In an accident like this one, Geza Simko’s estate (usually administered by a family member) has a wrongful death lawsuit against the truck driver and his trucking company.  Gilbert Simko may also have a lawsuit depending on the severity of his injuries.  Both lawsuits would offer them the chance to collect damages in excess of those allowed by the Michigan No Fault Act.

Jackson Car Accident

A Jackson car accident that occurred at the intersection of Seward and Michigan Avenue sent two women to the hospital.  Police have gotten conflicting reports of what happened, but it appears that one of the cars involved ran a stop sign and collided with the other car.  One of the cars, a Jeep, rolled over and landed upside down.  Both women were transported to Allegiance Health but their injuries were non-life-threatening and both women were conscious.

Although I am very sad to read about this, I have to recognize that it is very fortunate neither woman suffered more severe injuries.  While any car accident can severely disrupt an accident victim’s life, this one could easily have been fatal or resulted in serious bodily harm.

I would encourage each woman to submit a claim for Michigan No Fault benefits.  These benefits are available to both drivers regardless of fault and regardless of the severity of the accident.  No Fault benefits will pay for medical expenses and lost wages and may also pay for other services, depending on the severity of each driver’s injuries.

As part of any Michigan motorcycle accident case or any Michigan auto insurance claim, it is necessary to obtain the police traffic accident report.  Our firm routinely obtains these for our clients who have been injured in an auto accident.

These are available to you by simply contacting the police agency and requesting the report.  There is usually a small fee for the report.  For an accident that occurred in Jackson, you should request the traffic crash report at the following location:

Jackson Police Department
216 East Washington
Jackson, MI 49201
(517) 788-4100
Fax: (517) 788-4129

If your accident was investigated by the Michigan State Police, you need to request the report directly from that agency.  You can download the Michigan State Police form here that you must complete and submit to obtain the Michigan State Police report.  .
