Grand Haven Car Accident

A Grand Haven car accident has resulted in the death of one woman.  Doreen Riddle, 66, died February 9, 2009 after her car struck a snowbank and flipped over near Mercury Drive and 152nd Avenue.  A medical examination has revealed she died of a pre-existing medical condition rather than from injuries sustained in the car accident.

I am very sorry this accident happened.  If Doreen Riddle’s medical condition caused the accident, at least her family can take comfort in the fact that there were no other victims.  My sympathies are with the Riddle family.

The Riddle family should submit a claim for Michigan No Fault benefits.  A No Fault survivor loss claim will pay for a portion of the funeral and loss of household services.  If Doreen Riddle had been working or seeking work at the time of her accident, survivor loss benefits would also include loss of financial support.

Grand Haven Township Car Accident

A Grand Haven Township car accident occurred on November 8, 2008 when Andrew Visser of Allendale was driving on Winding Creek Road near Magnolia and crashed his vehicle into a tree.  He suffered minor injuries.

I was sorry to read about this accident.  I hope that Andrew Visser’s injuries are in fact minor and that he has a full recovery.

Michigan No Fault insurance benefits are available to cover Andrew Visser’s medical expenses.  No Fault benefits will also pay a portion of his lost wages if he needs to miss work and for other benefits depending on the severity of his injuries.  Significantly, there is no limit as to time or amount of the medical expenses No Fault insurance will pay.  That means if an injury does not heal or requires prolonged treatment, No Fault insurance should still pay for it.  The only limitation is that the medical expense must be reasonable and necessary treatment for an injury caused by the car accident.

Grand Rapids Car Accident

A Grand Rapids car accident has resulted in serious injuries for a 29-year old Grandville man.  Kevin Vangilder was seriously injured in a car accident that occurred at Eastern and Colbrook early morning on October 26, 2008.  He was riding in the backseat of a car involved in an accident and was not wearing his seatbelt.  He was thrown into the car’s windshield and is being treated for head injuries.  The driver, a 39-year old woman from Grand Haven, suffered non-life threatening injuries.  A front seat passenger was not injured in the accident.  It is unclear what caused the accident, and police are still investigating, although alcohol is believed to be a factor.

It is a real tragedy that this accident happened and that the injuries were so severe.  I hope that Kevin Vangilder and the driver are able to experience a full recovery from their injuries.

My law firm represents people injured in car accidents.  Both people injured in this accident are eligible for Michigan No Fault insurance benefits.  No Fault insurance will pay for all medical expenses and a portion of any wages lost because of the accident.  No Fault insurance may also provide them with additional benefits depending on the severity of their injuries.  Additionally, if Kevin Vangilder’s injuries are very severe, he may be able to sue his driver for additional damages.  Although my clients are sometimes hesitant to sue someone they know, I always remind them that the lawsuit is actually against the driver’s insurance company.  Finally, if alcohol was in fact involved, Kevin Vangilder may be able to sue a bar or restaurant that served the driver alcohol.

Grand Haven Drunk Driving Accident

A Grand Haven drunk driving accident has resulted in the death of Nicholas Kennth Iverson, 20, of Muskegon.  Nicholoas Iverson had been riding on the front end of a car driving in the River Haven Mobile Home Park when he fell off and fractured his skull.  He subsequently died at Butterworth Hospital.  The driver of the car has been charged with driving while intoxicated causing serious injury.

This is really tragic.  Hopefully, this accident serves as a reminder that cars can be extremely dangerous instruments and that people should not drive after drinking.

The Iverson family can use their Michigan No Fault insurance to pay for Nicholas’s medical bills.  These benefits will also help pay for a portion of his funeral expenses through a survivor loss claim.  Other benefits may also be available depending on the circumstances of the accident.  In addition, the Iverson family may have a claim for wrongful death against the driver of the vehicle and they may have a dram shop claim against a bar or restaurant that served the driver alcohol.  Whether these claims would be successful depends on the circumstances of the accident so the family would be best served by consulting with an experienced Michigan car accident lawyer who specializes in drunk driving cases.

As part of any Michigan motorcycle accident case or any Michigan auto insurance claim, it is necessary to obtain the police traffic accident report.  Our firm routinely obtains these for our clients who have been injured in an auto accident.

These are available to you by simply contacting the police agency and requesting the report.  There is usually a small fee for the report.  For an accident that occurred in Grand Haven, you should request the traffic crash report at the following location:

Grand Haven Dps

If your accident was investigated by the Michigan State Police, you need to request the report directly from that agency.  You can download the Michigan State Police form here that you must complete and submit to obtain the Michigan State Police report.  .
