Midland County Car Accident Lawyers
A Midland County car accident has resulted in the death of a Gladwin woman. Janice Hafer, 63, of Gladwin was killed on November 29, 2008 when a car driven by Amy Bicknel, 20, of Midland crossed the centerline of Saginaw Road near Stark Road in Homer Township, causing a collision. Janie Hafter was pronounced dead at the scene, while Amy Bicknel is in a Saginaw Hospital in critical condition.
I am very sorry this accident occurred. I hope that Amy Bicknel is able to experience a complete recovery from her injuries. I also want to express my sympathies to Janice Hafer’s family for their loss.
One of the most important things to do after any car accident is determine what claims each party may bring. In an accident like this one, both drivers are entitled to Michigan No Fault insurance benefits. These benefits will cover medical expenses, lost wages, and household replacement services. For Janice Hafer, her family can also submit a survivor loss claim, which will cover a portion of the funeral cost.
In addition, since it appears that Janice Hafer was not at fault, her estate may be able to bring a wrongful death lawsuit against Amy Bicknel. A family member should contact a lawyer to discuss whether they should bring a lawsuit and what would be involved if they did.
