Burton Car Accident

A single-car Burton car accident has seriously injured a 26-year old Flint man.  Jason Markley crashed his vehicle into trees and a utility pole at Covert and Davison Roads on October 28, 2008.  He was reported in serious condition at Hurley Medical Center following the accident.

This is a very unfortunate accident, especially since Jason Markley is so young.  I hope that he recovers quickly and completely from his injuries.

In an accident like this one, many times people do not know if they have any recourse.  In fact, they do.  Jason Markley can submit a claim to his No Fault insurance company and get his medical expense paid for.  He can also receive a portion of his lost wages, household replacement services, attendant care, transportation benefits, and other benefits from his no Fault insurance.  By speaking with an experienced Michigan car accident attorney, he can ensure he will properly submit all the documentation that goes along with his claims.

Flint Pedestrian Hit and Run Car Accident

A Flint pedestrian was hurt in a hit and run car accident on October 26, 2008.  Mattie Robertson, 40, was walking on King Avenue near University Avenue at about 2:20am when she was struck by an SUV.  She was taken to Hurley Hospital.  Anyone with information regarding the dark-colored SUV is asked to call Flint Police Sgt. John Bundy at 810- 237-6896.

I am very sorry this accident occurred.  The article I read does not specify how severe Mattie Robertson’s injuries are, but I hope she has a full recovery.

Even though Mattie Robertson was not in a car when the accident occurred, she is still eligible for Michigan No Fault benefits because her injuries were caused by an accident involving a car.  No Fault insurance will pay for all of her medical expenses as well as a portion of her wages if she has to miss work.  She may also be able to receive household replacement services, attendant care, and other benefits depending on the severity of her injuries.  In addition, if she was severely injured, she may be able to sue the driver for additional damages.  Even if the driver is never identified, she may still be able to sue her own insurance company.

Flint Car Accident Damages Court Building

A Flint car accident has sent one person to the hospital and caused significant damage to the Genesee County Probate Court building.  An SUV and a small car were driving near the court building when the SUV cut off the car.  The driver of the car then lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the building.  Fortunately, no one was inside the building since the accident occurred in the evening, but the driver of the car was hospitalized with minor injuries.  The driver of the SUV was ticketed.

This is an unfortunate accident and I hope the car driver recovers from his injuries.  From the news report, his injuries sound minor, but even minor injuries from a car accident can severely disrupt a person’s normal life.

My law firm represents people injured in car accidents.  Often, people do not understand what is covered by their No Fault insurance.  In an accident like this, the car driver can make a claim for No Fault benefits to cover his medical expenses.  This would include his hospital bills, but it would also include any follow-up treatment which is required because of the accident.  No Fault benefits will also cover a portion of his lost wages if he has to miss any time from work because of the accident.  They can also provide payment for household chores if he is unable to do them himself because of his injuries.  Finally, they also provide payment to someone taking care of him if supervised care is required after he is released from the hospital.  Although it sounds like his injuries are minor and may not prevent him from doing chores or necessitate care, if symptoms later develop that necessitate payment of these benefits, the insurance company will be obligated to pay for them.  As long as the symptoms are fairly traceable to the accident, No Fault insurance will cover them.  In addition, if the drivers injuries were severe, he would have a claim against the driver of the SUV since the SUV driver was at fault.

Flint Bus Accident

A Flint bus accident has resulted in the death of a student.  A pickup truck was exiting the parking lot of Powers Catholic High School on Tuesday when it was struck by a Mass Transit Authority bus.  The pickup truck driver, his passenger, and the bus driver were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.  The passenger later died from her injuries.  It is unclear how serious the injuries to the drivers were, but the jaws of life were used to remove the driver and passenger from the pickup truck.  The accident remains under investigation.

This is a very tragic accident.  Anytime someone so young loses their life in a car accident, the entire community is affected.  My thoughts are with this girl’s family.  I also hope both drivers can completely recover.

My law firm represents people who have been injured in car accidents.  If I were asked to advise the people involved in this accident, I would recommend that they make claims for No Fault insurance benefits as soon as possible.  Their No Fault benefits will pay their medical expenses and a portion of the funeral costs, and possibly other benefits as well.  Depending on the severity of the injuries, the driver who was free of fault may have legal claims against the driver who was at fault.  The passenger’s family definitely has a claim for wrongful death against the at-fault driver.  The best way to determine whether a claim exists would be to consult with an experienced car accident lawyer.

Flint Hit and Run Motorcycle Accident

A Flint motorcyclist was injured in a Flint hit and run motorcycle accident on Fenton Road near Pettibone Avenue.  Jeffrey Hill was thrown from his motorcycle and seriously injured after colliding with a pickup truck.  The pickup truck fled on westbound Pettibone Avenue.  Jeffrey Hill meanwhile was taken to Hurley Medical Center.

Police are still tracking the driver of the pickup truck.  They are requesting that anyone with any information about the truck to call them at 810-237-6890.

This is a terrible tragedy and my sympathy is with the Hill family at this time.  I wish Jeffrey Hill a complete and quick recovery.  Unfortunately, we will never know if any of his injuries could have been lessened if the truck driver had stopped and come to his immediate attention.

In an accident like this one, Mr. Hill may be able to obtain benefits through his No Fault insurance policy.  Such benefits would pay all of his medical bills and other expenses, a portion of his wages if he has to miss work, and an amount to cover the cost of caring for him if any supervised care is required after he is released from the hospital.  If the other driver is ever determined, he may also have a claim against him for his injuries in excess of what his No Fault insurance would provide.
