Lapeer Bus Accident Lawyer

A Lapeer bus accident caused a driver non-life-threatening injuries.  The accident occurred at the corner of N. Lapeer and Daley Roads in Mayfield Township when a car turned left in front of the bus.  The driver of the car was injured.  The bus driver was not injured.  No children were on board the bus when the accident happened.

As bad as this accident is, it could have been much worse.  I hope the car driver will recover fully from her injuries, and I am very relieved no children were injured.

Bus accidents are often some of the worst accidents.  This is because buses do not have seat belts or padded seats and other safety features that are now standard issue in cars.  If someone is hurt in a bus accident, that person can file a claim for Michigan No Fault benefits and may be able to sue a negligent driver if the injuries are serious.  The best thing to do after a bus accident or a car accident is to speak with an experienced Michigan car accident lawyer.  In an accident like this one, the car driver is entitled to payments for her medical expenses, lost wages, and possibly other No Fault benefits.  She may have a lawsuit if her injuries are serious.

Dearborn Bus Accident

A Dearborn bus accident has resulted in the death of an 81-year old woman.  Margaret Zeh tragically died on October 23, 2008 when the driver of a SMART bus stopped suddenly to avoid hitting a car that had veered in front of it on Michigan Avenue near Brady.  Margaret Zeh was a passenger on the bus and was flung out of her wheelchair when the bus stopped.

This is a very tragic accident and I feel terrible for her husband and the rest of her family.  I want to extend my sympathies for their loss.

Although they cannot replace Margaret Zeh, Michigan No Fault benefits can offer some compensation to the family, who can get a payment for a portion of the funeral costs if they submit a survivor loss claim.  In addition, they are able to sue either SMART or the driver of the car for wrongful death and they may receive damages in excess of what is provided by their No Fault insurance.  The family should speak with an experienced Michigan car accident attorney to ensure they submit the proper documentation for their No Fault claim and to help them decide whether to pursue a lawsuit.

Columbia School Bus Accident

A Columbia school bus accident injured 6 young children and two adults.  The school bus was hit in Norvell Township on M-124 near Lake Shore Drive.  The students were treated at Herrick Hospital in Tecumseh and Bixby Hospital in Adrian for non-life-threatening injuries.  The accident occurred as a driver crashed into another car stopped behind the bus.  The bus had stopped to pick up students.

It is very fortunate that none of the children or drivers were seriously injured.  Often, bus accidents can be some of the worst types of car accidents because most buses are not equipped with seat belts.  This accident serves as a reminder that drivers should pay extra attention to buses and their passengers.  No Fault benefits will cover all the children’s medical expenses and it seems like none of the other benefits available through the No Fault law will come into play because the injuries sustained are minor.
