Burton Car Accident

A single-car Burton car accident has seriously injured a 26-year old Flint man.  Jason Markley crashed his vehicle into trees and a utility pole at Covert and Davison Roads on October 28, 2008.  He was reported in serious condition at Hurley Medical Center following the accident.

This is a very unfortunate accident, especially since Jason Markley is so young.  I hope that he recovers quickly and completely from his injuries.

In an accident like this one, many times people do not know if they have any recourse.  In fact, they do.  Jason Markley can submit a claim to his No Fault insurance company and get his medical expense paid for.  He can also receive a portion of his lost wages, household replacement services, attendant care, transportation benefits, and other benefits from his no Fault insurance.  By speaking with an experienced Michigan car accident attorney, he can ensure he will properly submit all the documentation that goes along with his claims.

Burton Motorcycle Accident

A Burton motorcycle accident has claimed the life of the motorcyclist.  A truck was backing out of a home driveway on Barnes Avenue between Williamson and Shumacher avenues when it collided with a motorcycle.  Reports indicate that the truck driver heard the motorcycle but thought it was further down the road.

This is a real tragedy and I feel terrible for the family of the man who died.  It seems like too often drivers fail to see motorcycles until it is too late.

Because this accident involved a truck, the Michigan No Fault Act applies.  That means the family of the motorcyclist can make a No Fault insurance survivor loss claim.  That will allow them to get a portion of the funeral costs paid for and they will be able to get other benefits as well.  No Fault benefits are a poor substitute for having the motorcyclist alive and well, but at least they offer some support to the family at this time.

Additionally, the family has a claim against the truck driver for wrongful death.  If they can prove he was negligent and that his negligence caused the motorcyclist’s death, they will likely prevail.
