Barry County Car Accident Injures Three People

There was a story in the news today about a Barry County car accident that left three people injured. The accident took place on Saturday, July 3rd, in the late p.m. hours.  According to police, a vehicle crashed into another car occupied by an elderly man and woman after failing to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Bowens Mills and Patterson roads. The negligent driver suffers non-threatening injuries. The elderly couple were taken to a hospital in Grand Rapids and suffer injuries as well.

I am very sorry to hear about this two-car accident and hope that all injured individuals have a fast recovery without any permanent damages or injuries.

Our Michigan car accident lawyers advise accident victims of their legal rights. For this type of car accident, the injured individuals can submit a claim for Michigan No-Fault insurance benefits. No-Fault benefits will cover their medical expenses, lost wages, attendant care, replacement services, and other benefits related to injuries suffered in the accident. The injured parties can claim these benefits even if they did not have a Michigan automobile insurance policy.

In addition, the car accident injury victims may also have claims for personal injuries against the other driver if determined to be at fault in this auto  accident. The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case. In this lawsuit, the injured victims can claim damages and compensation for the injuries suffered in the accident.

Hasting Car Accident

I saw a story on the news today about a Hastings Car Accident that seriously injured two people. According to police, a driver and his passenger were traveling to the intersection of Mill and Hanover Streets when the driver allegedly lost control on a curve in the road then hit a power pole and crashed into a stone wall. Both the driver, a 22-year-old Hastings man,  and the passenger, a 20-year-old Hastings woman, were airlifted to a Grand Rapids Hospital. Police are still investigating the accident and believe that alcohol may be involved.

I  am very sorry to hear about this tragic auto accident and wish the injured driver and passenger the fullest and speediest recovery possible.

Our Michigan car accident lawyers advise accident victims their legal rights. For this type of auto accident in Michigan, the injured passenger can submit a claim for Michigan No-Fault insurance benefits.  No-Fault benefits will cover her medical expenses, lost wages, attendant care, replacement services, and other benefits related to injuries suffered in the accident.  The injured woman can claim these benefits even if she did not have a Michigan automobile insurance policy.

In addition, the car accident injury victims may also have claims for personal injuries against any driver determined to be at fault in this auto accident.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case. In this lawsuit, the injured victims can claim damages and compensation for the injuries suffered in the accident.

Another possible claim for anyone injured by the alleged drunk driver would be a potential Michigan dram shop case against the seller or furnisher of the  alcohol before the accident. At the very least, the injured parties should hire the best possible lawyer to look into these possibilities.

An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer can assist the victims with this type of claim.  Auto accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.

Hastings Motorcycle Accident Kills Sheriff Deputy

A Hastings motorcycle accident has killed an off-duty deputy of the Barry County Sheriff’s Department.  Christopher Yonkers, 43, of Hastings died at the scene of the accident, which occurred on M-43 near Usborne Road in Carlton Township when a car turned into the path of his motorcycle.  The driver of the car was not hurt.

This is a very tragic accident because it could have been avoided if the car driver had been paying more attention.  I want to offer my sympathies to the Yonkers family.

Although the Yonkers family is probably very distraught at this time, the law offers them some support.  Since this accident involved a car, Michigan No Fault benefits are available to the family.  A survivor loss claim is available to help cover the cost of the funeral.  Medical expenses, lost wages, and other benefits may also be available to the Yonkers family.  Finally, the family can sue the driver of the car for wrongful death.

A Barry County school bus accident narrowly avoided injuring any students.  Car driver Jayme Schut crossed the center line of M-37 Saturday night and collided head on with a bus full of 30 high schoolers.  Fortunately, no students suffered serious injury.
