Mason County Car Accident

A Mason County Car Accident  injured 2 adults and four children on May 13th on US-10 in Amber Township. The accident occurred when Barabra Ruell attempted a left turn from the parking lot of Meier’s on to US-10 when she was struck by a Ford Expidition driven by Leslie Parker.  Their were four children in the car. Three children and the two drivers were taken to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries at this time. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time.

I am very sorry to hear about his accident and wish all the injured parties a speedy and full recovery.

Michigan car accident victims have a number of legal rights.  For this type of accident, the injured passengers and drivers can  submit a claim for Michigan No-Fault insurance benefits.  No-Fault benefits will cover their medical expenses, lost wages, attendant care, replacement services, and other benefits related to injuries suffered in the accident.  The injured passengers and drivers can claim these benefits even if they did not have an automobile insurance policy.

In addition, the injury victims may be able to file a lawsuit against the persons driving the car.  Even though these are the children of one of the drivers, the insurance company for the driver must still cover any injuries. In this lawsuit, they can claim damages and compensation for the injuries suffered in the accident.  The insurance company for the negligent driver typically pays a settlement for this type of case.

An experienced Michigan car accident lawyer can assist the victim with this type of claim.  Accident victims should not speak with the insurance adjuster for the negligent driver before consulting with an attorney.

Ludington Car Accident

A Ludington car accident has resulted in a Ludington man’s death.  Ted Douglas of Ludington was killed when his pickup truck veered off Dennis Road near U.S. 10 in Amber Township.  No other vehicles were involved.  Police are still investigating the causes of the accident.

This is an extremely unfortunate tragedy.  My sympathies go out to the Douglas family.

Many times, family members think there is nothing that can be done when someone is injured or killed in a car accident and no other car was involved.  This is simply not true.  Under Michigan’s No Fault Act, No Fault benefits are available to all insured drivers who are hurt or killed in a car accident regardless of the number of cars involved and regardless of fault.  No Fault benefits will pay medical expenses and a portion of lost wages as well as other benefits.  The survivor loss portion of No Fault benefits will cover a portion of funeral expenses and may provide other benefits.
