Kalamazoo Hit and Run Accident
A pregnant woman was injured in a hit and run car accident in Kalamazoo recently at the intersection of Lovell and Oakland. The pregnant woman drove her Pontiac Grand Am on southbound Oakland when a black Honda ran the red light and collided with her car. Police are still investigating the accident at this time.
I am very sorry this accident occurred. I hope that the woman injured is able to recover completely from her injuries and that there was no harm suffered by her baby.
Michigan car accident victims have a number of legal rights. For this type of accident, the injured passengers and drivers should submit a claim for Michigan No-Fault insurance benefits. No-Fault benefits will cover their medical expenses, lost wages, attendant care, replacement services, and other benefits related to injuries suffered in the accident. Accident victims in Michigan can receive these benefits regardless of who was at fault in the accident. The injured passengers can claim these benefits even if they did not have an automobile insurance policy.
If the driver’s identity is not discovered, the pregnant woman still has rights under the law. She may be able to file an uninsured motorists claim against her own insurance policy or another insurance policy to compensate her for her injuries. It is important to have an experienced Michigan car accident lawyer review her policy to see if she can make such a claim.
