Detroit Truck Accident
A fatal Detroit truck accident may have been caused by the driver having a heart attack immediately before the crash. The accident occurred November 20, 2008 on Mt. Elliot between Caniff and Huber when the semi truck veered off the road and crashed into several utility polls. The truck driver died in the accident, but no one else was hurt. Mt. Elliot was closed for several hours because of the downed power lines.
I am very sorry this accident occurred. My sympathies go out to this man’s family and friends. Fortunately, no one else was injured in this accident.
The driver’s family must be going through a very hard time right now, especially since this accident happened so close to the holidays. They should speak with a lawyer to determine how they can get some support for the next several months and years. The reason they should speak with a lawyer is that depending on the circumstances of this accident, it might fall under the No Fault Act or the Workers’ Compensation laws. Both regulatory schemes will provide them with a portion of the driver’s lost wages and other benefits as well, but it would be a real shame if they filed for the wrong benefits and then missed the deadline to file for the other benefits while waiting for the insurance companies to figure out who is supposed to pay.
