Monroe County Pedestrian in Hit and Run

A hit and run accident in Monroe County has killed a pedestrian.  Tonya Teresa Chapman was struck and killed at the southbound entrance ramp of I-75 at Johnstonville Road.  Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 994-7046.

This is a very unfortunate accident.  My sympathies are with Ms. Chapman’s family and friends.

I often encounter people who think that pedestrians are not eligible to receive Michigan No Fault benefits.  This is not true at all.  In an accident like this one, a pedestrian can receive No Fault benefits because her death was caused by a motor vehicle.  Therefore, Ms. Chapman can receive No Fault benefits as long as she or someone she lived with had a No Fault insurance policy.  These benefits will pay for a portion of her funeral costs and may cover lost wages and possibly other benefits as well.  If the driver is located, her family will also have a claim against that person, but even if the driver is never found, the family can still pursue a claim against Ms. Chapman’s insurance company as long as the policy holder had uninsured motorist coverage.

Butler Township Car Accident

A Butler Township car accident has left one driver dead.  Two cars were involved in a crash on Clarendon Road north of Butler Speedway.  At least one of the cars was already on fire when the authorities arrived.  A woman driver of a van was trapped in the wreckage and killed.  A child from this car was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.  The second driver was not injured in the crash but suffered burns while trying to rescue the woman driver.

This is a very tragic accident.  My sympathies are with this woman’s family.  I hope the second driver and the child’s injuries are not severe and that they have a full recovery.

My law firm represents people who have been injured or killed in car accidents.  Many people do not realize that Michigan No Fault benefits carry survivor loss coverage, which will pay for a portion of the funeral expenses and possibly some other expenses as well.  In addition, many people do not realize that in an accident like this, the child can receive No Fault benefits even though he or she is not old enough to drive.  In fact, as long as he or she lives with someone who has a No Fault insurance policy, the child will be covered through that policy and will be able to receive payment for all medical expenses and for any care that is required after he or she is released from the hospital.  In addition, the passenger and the driver who is not at fault may have claims against the driver who is determined to be at fault depending on the severity of their injuries.

Grand Rapids Rollover Accident

A Grand Rapids rollover accident has left three people in the hospital with serious injuries.  The accident occurred on eastbound I-196 near College Avenue.  No other details of the accident have been released yet.

This is a very tragic accident.  Rollovers can be some of the worst accidents.  My sympathies are with the people injured in this accident and I hope they fully recover from their injuries.

My law firm represents people injured in car accidents.  We specialize in assisting our clients with their No Fault Insurance claims and in litigating No Fault claims against the injured person’s insurance company and auto negligence claims against the negligent driver or the negligent driver’s insurance company.  In an accident like this, everyone in the car has a claim for No Fault benefits if they or someone they live with has a No Fault policy.  These benefits will pay all of the medical expenses and possibly some other expenses.  In addition, depending on the severity of their injuries, the passengers may have a claim against the driver for their personal injuries.

Kalamazoo Car Accident Lawyer

A Kalamazoo car accident has resulted in injuries and damage to the public library.  A man driving a pickup truck reportedly suffered from a seizure and lost control of his vehicle.  He then crashed into a lamppost and a pedestrian before hitting the wall of the library.  No one inside the library was hurt, but both the driver and the pedestrian were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

I am very sorry this accident happened.  I hope both of these people experience a complete recovery.

My law firm represents people who have been injured in car accidents.  The first thing the Michigan car accident attorneys at my law firm do when they begin working on a case is to determine all possible legal claims our client may have.  In a situation like this, both the driver and the pedestrian can make claims from their No Fault insurance provider.  No Fault Insurance will pay for things such as medical expenses and lost wages as well as other benefits depending on the severity of injuries.  In addition, depending on how severely the pedestrian was hurt, he or she may have a claim against the driver since the driver was at fault in causing the accident.

Grand Blanc Township Car Accident

A Grand Blanc Township car accident resulted in serious injuries to a woman and an Oakland County Sheriff’s deputy.  The accident occurred when the woman’s car crossed multiple lanes of traffic on South Dort Road near I-75.  She collided head-on with a sheriff’s deputy who was coming home from working the midnight shift.  The woman had two young children in the backseat who were not injured, but the jaws of life were required to remove both the drivers from their cars.  Both are in serious but stable condition Genesys Regional Medical Center.

This is very sad and I hope the drivers are able to recover.  At least neither of the kids was hurt.

My law firm represents people who have been injured in car accidents.  Many people think that they have no recourse if they have caused an accident, but this is not true.  Under Michigan’s No Fault Act, No Fault benefits are available to almost any driver injured in a car accident regardless of fault.  Even though the woman appears to have caused this accident, she can still receive No Fault benefits, which will cover her medical expenses and may cover other expenses as well.  The deputy may not be able to receive No Fault benefits since he was injured while coming home from work, but he is eligible for worker’s compensation, which will provide many of the same benefits.
